We’re seeking experienced freelance science writers to contribute to SciShow Psych, a psychology-specific spinoff channel of SciShow, one of YouTube’s most viewed and trusted sources of science information.
Our videos cover everything from the truth of how advertising affects our decisions to the way psychologists define a disorder. We look for the most meaningful and counterintuitive stories out there, and we share them with viewers who are as passionate about science as we are.
We talk to people with intelligence, clarity, hopefully a little wit, and most of all, an abiding sense of wonder about the universe.
Applicants should have an academic background in a scientific discipline, demonstrated experience writing about science for a popular, non-academic audience, and be passionate about imparting hard science to humanity in a way that is both educational and engaging.
Your writing must be:
--100% bulletproof and fact-checked accurate
--completely freaking fascinating, but also clear
--entertaining, by which we mean “witty” more than just “funny”
-- Subject knowledge in psychology
-- Ethical writing and research practices
-- Ability to interpret journals and research
-- Experience in communicating scientific principles for a broad audience
-- Understanding of current trends as they relate to the field of psychology
-- Familiarity with script writing for digital media
If your experience hits these marks, then prove it!
All responses are due no later than March 11, 2019.
