We are looking to add a Technical Game Designer to our team who will act as a bridge between conceptual game design and code. We need someone who has a deep understanding of shooters and can deliver the intended player experience through technical configuration of characters and weapons.
Translate documentation from conceptual game designers into technical specifications for code and maintain documentation up-to-date
Work in Unreal Engine 5:
Acceptance and configuration of character and weapon abilities
Shooting mechanics setup
Character setup (cameras, hitboxes, animations)
Game mode configuration
Balance adjustments
Actively participate in playtests, control feature configuration iterations
Collaborate with other departments on configuration matters (code, animations, game designers, technical artists, etc.)
Manage features from concept to completed configuration
Minimum 2 years of experience as a Technical Game Designer (or at least 1 year in the shooter genre)
Proficiency in UE 5 Blueprint (able to accept and configure features from code, adjust cameras, hitboxes, etc.)
Experience writing technical documentation and requests for code
Familiarity with version control systems
Experience testing and iterating feature configurations
Willingness to work based on conceptual game designer briefs - understanding the required configurations, working through references, and iterative approvals
Initiative in improving the feel of the configurable feature, with a focus on player experience
Attention to detail in both documentation and engine work
Passion for shooter games and high proficiency in playing them
Nice to Have:
Experience with third-person shooters
Experience with ability shooters
Strong mathematical skills
Released features - configured features released in a release or own projects on UE5
