Leading a team of Character Artists, including task assignment, mentoring, quality control, and deadline management.
Creating high-poly and optimized 3D character models.
Setting up textures, materials, and shaders for characters.
Developing workflows and standards for the character art team.
Collaborating with the art director, game designers, and animators to achieve the overall artistic vision.
Translating 2D concepts into 3D models while maintaining the game’s style.
Implementing new technologies and approaches in character development (e.g., procedural tools).
Participating in interviews and hiring new team members.
5+ years of experience in game development, with at least 2 years in a Lead/Senior position.
Ability to create characters from scratch, from concept to final in-game asset.
Proficiency with key 3D tools (e.g., ZBrush, Maya, 3ds Max, Blender).
Expertise in texturing (Substance Painter/Designer, Photoshop).
Knowledge of animation and rigging principles for characters.
Understanding of technical constraints in game engines (e.g., Unreal Engine, Unity) and how to work within them.
Artistic sense with a strong grasp of proportions, anatomy, and style.
Experience optimizing characters for various platforms (mobile, console, PC).
