What kind of professional are we looking for?

We’re looking for a highly-driven, creative and experienced Community Manager to join our marketing team. This vital role will have you creating imaginative stand-out content and participating in online interactions across a whole host of platforms such as Discord, X/twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Steam, YouTube, Reddit, and TikTok.

We’re looking for someone with a proven track record in written and video content creation. Video editing should be second nature to you and you’ll need to be able to quickly learn how to use our in-house tools to craft jaw-dropping original videos that stand out amongst the noisy world of social media.

We’re looking for a people-centric natural community manager with a strong eye for detail, a passion for wordsmithery and a portfolio to prove it. Our ideal candidate is driven to seek out and experience the more obscure corners of the indie games world. If you’re not already a player, you'll be hungry to immerse yourself in Kenshi’s deep and complex lore. We’re after someone that’s keen to get to the point of being able to crack in-jokes with even the most hardcore of players within six months of starting the job.

You’ll need to be adept and experienced at managing online communities and have a strong understanding of social media dynamics. You should be capable of maintaining our company’s very specific tone across all communications and be proactive in managing capricious community interactions.

This is a highly collaborative role where you’ll be bringing the outward-facing voice of Lo-Fi’s artistic vision to life through content, closely aligning with the artistic direction provided by our Head of Marketing. You’ll need to demonstrate an ability to creatively collaborate, adaptively implement feedback and actively listen to marketing leadership to ensure our online identity accurately reflects Kenshi’s unique and unusual tone.

You’ll need to ensure consistent messaging that perfectly fits our tone and fosters an accepting and lively community atmosphere. Your ability to understand and balance the diverse needs of our community and act autonomously in line with our company’s ethos will be crucial.

Ultimately, you will be a key member of the Lo-Fi Games team, driving engagement and nurturing our community with clear, well-crafted communications, helping ensure that our fans remain excited and involved in our journey as we draw nearer to Kenshi 2’s release and beyond.

This role is offered as a hybrid role - a regular catch up will be required in our Central Bristol office, so please only apply if you are local to the area or can happily commute.

  • Excellent verbal communication skills

  • Fantastic writing skills - the ability to speak both formally and informally with our company’s  tone is absolutely vital to this position

  • Strong knowledge of social media best practices - you’ll know your YouTube Shorts from your Instagram Stories. For every major platform you’ll know when it’s best to use a particular format, how long a video should be and what ratio works best

  • Strong organisational skills - you’ll be someone that ritualistically keeps your editing tools’ social media export templates up to date and loves to stay on top of your to-do lists

  • Strong attention to visual detail, a keen sensitivity to aesthetics and a solid understanding of how visual elements align to create a cohesive identity

  • Excellent proofreading skills and immaculate spelling

  • A sense of awareness and sensitivity in keeping humour and interactions within appropriate professional boundaries

  • The ability to understand, interpret and implement feedback, asking clarifying questions whenever necessary

  • Experience in strategising and pitching community campaign ideas, plotting them out, and carrying them through to the end

  • Experience proactively using project management software such as Asana
